Supply Chain Traceability Mapping from plot to refinery, audit-ready

We map every supplier, farm plot polygon, collection point, mill and refinery in your sourcing network and check each plot against the EUDR deforestation cut-off. You get evidence your compliance team can defend, built by a remote team working at origin.

The compliance problem

Why supply chain traceability mapping is now a market-access issue

Under the EU Deforestation Regulation, operators and traders placing palm oil, coffee, cocoa, rubber, timber, soy or cattle products on the EU market must prove they come from land not deforested after 31 December 2020. That proof is geolocation: coordinates for every plot of land where the commodity was produced. A declaration from a supplier is no longer enough, and gaps in the first mile mean non-compliant product.

The hard part is upstream. Smallholders rarely have surveyed boundaries, supplier lists live in spreadsheets, intermediaries change from season to season, and legacy coordinates are often swapped, duplicated or self-intersecting. Codeinspira builds the spatial backbone of your traceability programme: field-collected polygons, cleaned geometries, and a supplier graph that links each plot to the collection point, mill and refinery that handled its output.

We have done this in production. Codeinspira developed the WebGIS Traceability & Analysis (EUDR) platform and the WebGIS Due Diligence Scoring system for PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, one of Indonesia's major palm oil groups. As an Indonesian team, we sit at origin for many EUDR commodities, while working remotely with sourcing, sustainability and IT teams in Europe and elsewhere in English.

  • Full audit trail of plot and supplier record changes
  • Role-based access for field, sustainability, procurement and buyer views
Commodities

EUDR commodities we map

Each commodity has a different first mile, and the data model adapts to it.

Palm oil

Estates, plasma schemes and independent smallholders linked to mills and refineries for EUDR, RSPO and ISPO.

Coffee

Smallholder and cooperative plots mapped for specialty and commercial exporters supplying EU roasters.

Cocoa

Farm-to-warehouse tracing through local buyers and aggregators before export.

Natural rubber

Smallholder rubber gardens mapped and linked to crumb rubber factories serving tyre makers.

Timber & wood products

Harvest blocks and community forests tied to legality documentation and chain of custody.

Soy & cattle

Farm and ranch locations mapped for feed, food and leather supply chains entering the EU.

Why Codeinspira

GIS engineers who have shipped EUDR systems

Traceability fails when it is treated as either a pure IT project or a pure certification exercise.

01

Production experience

We built EUDR traceability and supplier due diligence scoring for PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk. We understand mill catchments, smallholder realities and auditor questions, not just code.

02

Reproducible methods

Satellite screening runs in Google Earth Engine on documented datasets, so every result can be re-run and explained. Your auditors get the method, not just a red or green flag.

03

No lock-in

The platform is built on open-source components and handed over with full source code under NDA. Host it on your cloud or on-premise, with no recurring licence per hectare or user.

FAQ

FAQ: Supply Chain Traceability Mapping

What does supply chain traceability mapping for EUDR actually include?
It covers geolocating every production plot, linking plots to the suppliers, collection points, mills and refineries that handle their output, screening plots for deforestation after 31 December 2020, and scoring supplier risk. The result feeds the geolocation data you submit with each due diligence statement.
Do all plots need polygons under EUDR?
For commodities other than cattle, plots larger than 4 hectares must be described with a polygon, while smaller plots may use a single latitude/longitude point. Our platform enforces this rule automatically and flags plots that still need boundary capture.
How do you check plots against the 31 December 2020 cut-off date?
We overlay plot geometries on forest cover baselines and Landsat and Sentinel time series in Google Earth Engine, measuring any forest loss after the cut-off. Each plot gets a status, an affected area and before/after imagery that your compliance team or auditor can review.
What drives the cost of a traceability mapping project?
Main factors are the number of suppliers and plots, the quality of your existing coordinates, whether field capture is needed, the number of commodities, and extras such as risk scoring or QR traceability. We give a scoped estimate after a free consultation and a look at sample data.
How long does it take to map a supply chain for EUDR?
The platform itself can be stood up in weeks, but field capture for smallholders usually sets the pace. We phase the work so your highest-volume or highest-risk supply bases are traceable first.
Can the same supply chain mapping support RSPO and ISPO?
Yes. Plot boundaries, land legality documents and land-cover history collected for EUDR also serve RSPO and ISPO traceability requirements, so your team collects data once and reuses it across schemes and buyer requests.
Which data formats do you accept and export?
We ingest Excel, CSV, Shapefile, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, GeoPackage and Esri File Geodatabase. Exports include GeoJSON formatted for due diligence statements, plus Shapefile, KML, Excel and PDF reports.
Who owns the supplier data and the code, and how is it secured?
You own both. We sign an NDA before receiving supplier data, deploy to your cloud or on-premise servers, apply role-based access and audit logs, and hand over the full source code at the end of the engagement.
